It's hard to put into words. The impact journalism has had in my life is something that I will forever be grateful for.
Since I started working for The ReMarker, I truly believe that I have made a positive impact on my community. From reporting on gun violence, presenting a voice for the school community or telling stories that change people's lives, I have used journalism as a catalyst for engagement and mobilization.
But for me, journalism is not just about writing stories. Journalism is about meeting people, creating relationships, talking to others effectively and telling stories — in other words, telling the stories that matter.
Working for The ReMarker has not only provided me with a valuable education — it has defined who I am. And looking back at all the work I put into improving my craft — which includes everything from writing and editing stories to designing layouts to telling the story visually — I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.
I thank you for taking the time to view my work. Journalism will always be a passion of mine — and looking back at my experiences working on The ReMarker years from now — I know that I will be reminded of where the story took me.
